Safeguarding

Safeguarding, Child Protection and Looked After Children

At Rokesly Junior School we believe that everyone should be treated equally and accepted openly. Staff and Governors work towards ensuring that all aspects of school life are “fair” and “safe” for children, staff, parents/carers and the wider community.

We have a range of policies in place in school that are designed to achieve a fair, safe and harmonious environment. Policies provide guidance on the expected acceptable standards of behaviour of all staff, governors, children and adult visitors to our school.

We aim to ensure that Rokesly Junior is a place where children and adults are safe from harm. We firmly believe that everyone has a responsibility for safeguarding and should be considerate of the wellbeing of others. Our children know that all adults in the school are willing to listen when they want to discuss a problem and will provide the support they need.

Online Safety is an area of Safeguarding that deals specifically with the acceptable behaviour needed to achieve a safe online community as well as teaching users of the internet, social media and connected devices what they should if they encounter difficulties.

An emphasis on wellbeing through our core values and ongoing review of incidents, ensures that we provide an environment that supports the emotional development of our learners.  We also have a dedicated safeguarding team that meets regularly to review safeguarding in the school.

Operation Encompass

Our school is part of the Operation Encompass project which runs jointly between the school, Haringey and Enfield Borough Metropolitan Police.

Operation Encompass is a unique Police and Education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people exposed to domestic abuse.

Operation Encompass is the process of the police reporting to schools before the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has been involved or exposed to a domestic abuse incident the previous evening.

The information is given in strict confidence to the Designated Safeguarding Lead to enable support to be given dependent on the needs and wishes of the child.

For more information, visit the Operation Encompass website.
